•The Isaacs in Concert

January 16 + 17 // Library Theatre

The Isaacs will entertain audiences at the Hoover Public Library Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16 and Friday, Jan. 17. Frequent performers at the Grand Ole Opry, The Isaacs are a Nashville-based, multi-award winning family group, consisting of siblings Ben Isaacs, Sonya Isaacs Yeary, Rebecca Isaacs Bowman and their mother, Lily Isaacs. The band’s unique style showcases tight family harmony and blends their multi-genre musical influences of bluegrass, rhythm and blues, folk, country and southern gospel, earning them two Grammy nominations, eight Dove awards and numerous high profile collaborations, as well as select dates with Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw who produced their two latest projects, Nature’s Symphony in 432 and Favorites.

•State of the City Address

January 16 // Hyatt-Regency – The Wynfrey Hotel

Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato will deliver the annual state of the city address at the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership luncheon at 11:15 a.m. Free parking for the event will be available between the hotel and Belk. •Live on the Plaza: George Griffin and the Firebirds

January 29 // Hoover Library Plaza

Singer, songwriter and guitarist George Griffin heads up George Griffin and the Firebirds. You may know George from his time in George and the G-Men. This is a new team of talented folks who back George’s gutsy style in a way no one else can. George Griffin and the Firebirds will bring their unique flavor of southern rock to the Hoover Public Library’s Plaza on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m.

•Friends Midwinter Book Sale

January 30 + 31 // Hoover Public Library

Come on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. for the preview sale, or just hit the regular sale starting at 9 a.m. the next day. The sale includes hardbacks, paperbacks, children’s books, DVDs, audiobooks, music and more. Most items are priced under $1, so it won’t break the bank. Plus, all proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library.
