Tis the season for parades and tree lightings. Check out our list of holiday happenings with social distance this month.

1. Christmas Tree Lighting

Tuesday, Dec. 1 | 5 p.m.
Hoover City Hall

Come out for this annual city event to kick off the holiday season. A Hoover City School choir will perform, and a student lights the Christmas tree during the ceremony. Santa will make his grand entrance on a fire truck and takes pictures with children too.

2. Greenery Sale

It’s time to decorate your mantles, mailboxes, and entryways with fresh greenery for the holidays! Find, garlands and wreaths, along with bows, mailbox cover frames, and wreath frames at this two-day sale. 

3. Bluff Park Christmas Parade

Saturday, Dec. 12 | 10 a.m.
Bluff Park

This annual tradition will return with its all its festivity. The Hoover Historical Society will have an Open House and Picture Taking opportunities that day 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Stinson Ole Place (Folklore Center) log cabin in conjunction with the parade too. Find updates at

4. Meadow Brook Runs

Get in a run to go with the holiday season around the Meadow Brook area—on what organizers argue is “Birmingham’s most beautiful course.” Walkers and pets on leash are welcome too. The run starts at 1100 Corporate Parkway. Find more info at
