3. Visual Art Exhibition: Joi West

Jan. 5-Feb. 28 | Library Hours
The Hoover Public Library

Birmingham-based artist and photographer Joi West is known for their work combining photography, audio, text and printmaking to examine relationships between families and the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically in the South, and how such relationships help shape one’s identity. In 2020, Joi was honored with the Media/Photography Fellowship from the Alabama State Council on the Arts. Visit here for more information on this exhibition.

4. Tai Chi in the Morning

Tuesday, Jan. 9 | 9:30-11 a.m.
The Hoover Public Library

Instructor Steve Guesman will lead the group through the basics of Tai Chi–which is commonly known as “mediation in motion.” This morning exercise encourages strength, flexibility and balance, too. Learn more and register for this event here.

5. 2024 State of the City Luncheon

The Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to present Mayor Frank Brocato, who will deliver the state of the city address at this annual luncheon. Networking begins at 11:15 a.m., and the program and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. While everyone is welcome to attend, attendees must register in advance here.
