1. The Farmers Market at Brock’s Gap

Hoover’s newest farmers market is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that features Alabama vendors’ fresh, locally-grown produce, made-from-scratch foods, art, often live entertainment and more. This rain-or-shine event will also have food trucks offering breakfast, brunch and lunch, too. 2. The 9th Annual Judy Merritt Memorial 5K and Eggstravaganza

Saturday, April 8 | 9 a.m.-noon
Veterans Park

This annual race is held in honor of Jefferson State Community College’s former president, Dr. Judy M. Merritt. Dr. Merritt served as president for 35 years and notably was the first female president of an Alabama college. Check in for the 5K begins at 7:30 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m. At 10:45 a.m., the eggstravaganza will commence. More than 10,000 eggs will be laid out for children to snatch up, so bring your Easter baskets and don’t be late! 3. A Celebration of Ramadan

The Muslim community of the Greater Birmingham area is hosting a celebration of Ramadan at the Birmingham Islamic Society at Hoover Crescent Islamic Center. Everyone regardless of religious practices is invited to attend and partake in the Ramadan fast-breaking at sunset each day. There will be evening prayer at sunset, too. Event organizers will also be hosting a brief presentation on Islam followed by a question and answer session for those interested in learning more about the Islamic faith. 4. The 2023 Annual Spring Plant Sale

Aldridge Gardens is hosting its annual plant sale, featuring professional gardeners who will be on site to assist with selections and offer advice on plant care and maintenance. Customers will also have the opportunity to purchase a “pass it along plant,” which is a plant that originally lived in the gardens! This year’s main feature is the “Snowflake” hydrangea, but shoppers will be able to choose from a local variety. 5. Denim and Dining

Save the date for Hoover City Schools Foundation’s Denim and Dining fundraiser! This event features live music, both live and silent auctions and a catered dinner from Jim ‘N Nicks, too. Tickets are $100. Proceeds benefit Hoover’s 17 schools and more than 14,000 students. For more information, visit here.

6. Celebrate Hoover Day

Drawing more than 10,000 residents each year, Celebrate Hoover Day is back again this spring and will feature live music, a kids’ zone, family-friendly games and activities, food vendors and more. Be on the lookout for a petting zoo, carnival rides and a car show, too! This event is free and open to the public. Visit here for more information.
