Fall has arrived, and there are still fun ways to enjoy it in the community while keeping safe social distance.

1. Stadium Trace Stroll

Enjoy specials on food and beverages as well as retail discounts while supporting the Hoover Parks and Recreation Foundation. Participants of this event presented by Signature Homes will receive a “Hoover Strong” wristband, give aways and door prizes tickets.

2. Kitty Kat Haven 5K

Saturday, Oct. 3
Veterans Park

Run at Veterans Park the first Saturday of October, and you can support kitties that need a home! The 5K race and Whisker Walk 1-mile fun run/walk benefit Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue, a no-kill, cage-free shelter for cats and kittens based in Hoover. Find more information or sign up here.

3. Taste of Hoover

Thursday, Oct. 8 | 5-8 p.m.
Aldridge Gardens

Dishes of all styles and ethnicities can be found around Hoover, and on this night many of them are all in one place. Stroll through the gardens and sample selections from restaurants and caterers plus international wines and local beers—all with live music in the background. A limited number of tickets will be sold; purchase them at aldridgegardens.com. 

4. Shop Save & Share

We’re all about an excuse to shop for a good cause, and you can’t beat the Junior League of Birmingham’s Shop Save & Share fundraiser. A digital or printed Shop Save & Share card costs $40, and then you receive a 20 percent at more than 400 participating businesses—including many in Hoover. You can purchase and download a card at ShopSaveandShare.net or at select retailers.

5. Hearts in Harmony: Autumn in the Gardens

Aldridge Gardens

It’s 2020, so the Hoover Service Club is planning its first ever social distancing” event. Come out to Aldridge Gardens for a silent auction, live entertainment, a gourmet boxed dinner and socially distant seating. Masks may be required as mandated by the state. Tickets are $125 ($100 of each reservation is tax deductible) and proceeds go toward scholarships to deserving Hoover students and worthy programs serving needs in the Hoover community. Nov. 16-22

This annual Junior League of Birmingham holiday shopping event is moving online follow COVID-19 safety precautions. With the purchase of a $15 General Admission ticket, you get access to its virtual marketplace with more than 50 stores from across the nation Tuesday, Nov. 17 through Sunday, Nov. 22. Virtual events will also be held throughout the week. Proceeds from Market Noel go back into the community through the JLB’s 40 community projects benefiting women and children in need.
