The Proposal: We both differ on opinions when it comes to New Year’s Eve. I (Katy) love going to bed early, while Jeremy loves celebrating the new year with a bang. We decided to stay in to cook dinner and have a movie marathon to bring in 2021. Around 11:30 p.m. I began dozing off, so Jeremy jumped up to turn on the lights throughout the house to be sure I was awake at midnight. As the countdown began, he ran to the kitchen to grab party poppers and came back with a ring and hit one knee. It was a simple, yet perfect, pajama proposal to quite literally ring in the new year.
Favorite Moments: Our favorite moments of the day were the times we had a minute to breathe together. We skipped the first look and instead exchanged gifts and letters back to back. It was a grounding moment filled with peace and anticipation for the day ahead, as well as a one to laugh together about gifts we received from one another. Jeremy gave me a Razor scooter, and I gifted him a speaker engraved with “Schram Fam.” Once the reception was over, we headed to a few spots around downtown Birmingham to take photos. We spent the next hour riding scooters, blasting music and celebrating the day together.
Favorite Details: The wedding was a small, very intentional celebration. Each detail, whether conventional or unconventional, was carefully chosen. To this day, Jeremy’s favorite detail was anything floral: boutonnieres, bouquets, and the greenery that brought our reception venue to life. My favorite detail was one not chosen by me at all, but rather a surprise detail planned by my dad. His suit jacket was lined with photos of my pups, Bailey and Jersey.
