Sloane Bell & Brock Phillips: A Hoover Wedding

How We Met: Brock I (Sloane) met during the summer after our first year of law school while both interning in Birmingham. The firms that we interned for (and work for now) were playing softball against each other. I was playing catcher, and Brock came up to bat and introduced himself, saying we would be working with each other for the second half of the summer. We were assigned to share an office, and the rest was history!

Favorite Moment: My favorite part of the day was looking out at the guests in the crowd at our ceremony. We were supposed to get married on April 18, 2020 with a 400+ person wedding. But, when COVID hit in March, we knew that was going to happen, and we’d have to make a back-up plan (and maybe more than one). We decided to go ahead and get married on April 18 with just 10 family members and rescheduled our big wedding for June. We ended up having to move the wedding again to Aug. 29, so when the day finally came and we were able to have all of our families and friends in one place after so many months of not seeing them, it was indescribably special to look out and see everyone we love there to support us after four months of marriage.

Favorite Details: My goal for the details was to reflect my love for classic and antique items and places since all of our wedding venues were historic places in Birmingham. Annabelle’s created the most elegant gold and crème invitation suite. My flowers were traditional, feminine and full of soft colors. I also incorporated some heirlooms of the women in my family, such as my grandmother’s Chanel No. 5 perfume, my great-grandmother’s broach pinned to my bouquet and my mom’s diamond tennis bracelet.
