How did you two meet?
William and I met at Hoover High School in our eleventh-grade history class. He was a very shy, cross country and track athlete, and I was an outgoing cheerleader. William offered to help me complete my entire portion for a class project, and as they say, “the rest is history.” We started dating the summer before our senior year. We both went on to pursue college degrees at the University of Alabama, and our relationship grew and matured with us!
The Proposal
William proposed in Tuscaloosa on UA’s campus at Marr’s Springs. It’s a beautiful, natural spring in the middle of campus. It’s a place we had walked by together many times. William told me we were going to go to lunch at our favorite date night spot, FIVE Tuscaloosa. We took a detour through campus and stopped and went for that familiar walk. William stopped and knelt down and asked the question I had been so excited to hear! When he knelt down, the ring box was still in his back pocket and got stuck there. We both were laughing and giddy as William had to stand back up, get the ring out, then kneel back down to ask again and of course, I said yes!
Favorite Wedding Moment
My favorite moment during our wedding was the private dance we did at the very end of our reception. Just before we left, when everyone was outside prior to our rose petal exit, William and I danced under the twinkle lights to Keith Whitley’s version of “When You Say Nothing At All.”
Favorite Wedding Details
Some of my favorite wedding details were the florals, my bridesmaids’ dresses and my wedding shoes. They were all gorgeous and made my vision come to life. The florals were all the blues and dusty pinks of my dreams!
