HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We met when Jacob transferred to the same school as me in the eighth grade. We attended a small private school with only 70 people in our grade at that time, so we ended up in the same group of friends. One day, our friend group decided to go see “Ouija” one evening in October 2014. We ended up sitting next to each other during the movie and started to text each other in the following days, despite having never spoken one-on-one before. Within a week, we were dating.
THE PROPOSAL
Jacob went to the University of Alabama, while I went to Mississippi State University. During our freshman year, we made a habit of walking on the Riverwalk. In the months leading up to the engagement, Jacob kept teasing about fake proposals to make me think it was happening when it wasn’t. During one of our walks, one of our best friends and eventual officiant, Peter, followed us around the riverwalk with a camera to really “sell it.” Right as we finished our walk, Jacob got down on one knee and proposed right on the bank of the river.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
I tried on many dresses across two different stores, but I kept coming back to the one I eventually chose. The dress had an eight-foot train and seemed to fit me perfectly from the start. I loved the open back, and the length made me feel beautiful.
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
Our grandparents were interviewed for our wedding video. We wanted to remember the impact they’ve had on our lives, and our videographers perfectly captured our grandparents’ loving words that we will always cherish. We recommend preserving such sweet memories to watch for years to come.
