Shannon Ward & Kyle Driver: A Hoover Wedding

How You Met: Kyle and I (Shannon) met at a conference for our current employer, N2 Publishing. We became best friends and remained that way for a little while until I approached Kyle for something more. He noted that we were on the same page, and our dating relationship began. At the time I was living in Panama City for work, so we traveled between there and Hoover every couple of days (thank goodness for the ability to work remotely!).

The Proposal: After a little over a year of dating, Kyle asked my parents for their permission to marry me while visiting in Texas for the Holidays. They of course said yes! Kyle then made me wait for FOUR more months, waiting for the perfect time. I wanted to genuinely be surprised, so any outing out of the ordinary would have been suspect. He proposed to me in our condo, and I have no idea what he said because I cried the whole time! This was the night of his high school reunion, so we kind of got a built-in engagement party by default. We spent the next 11 months planning our perfect wedding.

Favorite Moment: We had one of those wedding days where genuinely nothing went wrong, and if it did, we have already forgotten. Our ceremony was beautiful with many happy tears as we read our own vows and made our lifelong promises. We truly could not ask for more. Then came our reception, which was an absolute blast! One of my favorite memories was our last dance, which was to “Time of Your Life” from Dirty Dancing. Completely unrehearsed, we decided to do the lift at the end! This, of course, was not as perfect as the one in the movie, but it made to a very memorable ending before we departed.
