HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We met through mutual friends while we were both living in downtown Birmingham in 2018. I was about to start my third year at UAB School of Dentistry, while Adam was working at Motorola Solutions as a software engineer. We went on our first date at Church Street Coffee and Books and soon realized it was the best first date either of us had been on.
THE PROPOSAL
Adam planned a date night for our fourth anniversary at Automatic Seafood and Oysters, but our reservations were not until 8 p.m. on August 5, 2022. Prior to our dinner, Adam took us to Church Street Coffee and Books, where we often went to celebrate anniversaries and special occasions. After getting our coffee, he drove us to a hilltop at Redmont Park, which overlooked the sun setting on Birmingham. He dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. My younger sister and brother-in-law, along with their wedding photographer, Eleanor Stenner, were hiding and taking pictures. It was the most perfect, picturesque and thoughtful proposal.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
I fell in love with the details of my wedding dress, such as the buttons that ran the entire length of the back of the dress; the bow that was also a built-in bustle; and the way the material flowed over the bodice. The dress was originally strapless, but Leslie Salzman added the off-the-shoulder sleeves that made the already beautiful dress, uniquely mine.
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
I recommend working with Engaged Wedding Library to help with the wedding planning timeline. While it is important to book vendors and plan early, remember to cherish the reason for the wedding season with your fiancé.
