How We Met: Connor and I (Heather) grew up in the same hometown, but never knew each other. We met in college on a blind date to a sorority date party. We hung out together as friends over the next couple of months and began dating the following summer. We dated for over four years before getting married.
The Proposal: Connor told me that he had a work party at The Club. I am not an easy person to surprise, so he even made a fake invitation to try to throw me off. When we got there, Connor walked me to the back of The Club where it overlooks the city of Birmingham. As we were walking, he stopped in the middle of the path, and then he turned to me, told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and dropped to one knee. Although I do not remember everything he said because I was so shocked, it was the most perfect moment and in front of the city we both grew up in and love so dearly.
Favorite Moment: Our photographers took us away at the beginning of the reception for sunset photos at Railroad Park. It had finally stopped raining, and these were the only photos we were able to get outside on our wedding day. It was a sweet time to spend together before we headed back to celebrate with friends and family.
What We Are Doing Now: Connor and I live in our first house in Homewood. Connor is a CPA for PwC, and I am a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at Children’s of Alabama. We love to travel together, and we enjoy trying all the fun and local spots around Birmingham.
