Children can don their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat at the Hoover Public Library throughout the day.

•Walk to End Epilepsy

November 2 // Birmingham

The Epilepsy Foundation of Alabama will hold the Walk to End Epilepsy at Railroad Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The walk is designed to bring the community together to affect change through care, advocacy, research and education. This is the only Walk to End Epilepsy in Alabama, and serves as the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year. •Moss Rock Festival

November 2+3 // Moss Rock Preserve

This one-of-a-kind outdoor, eco-creative festival is open to anyone who wants to explore Nature, Art+Design and SmartLIVING themes. The event will feature numerous exhibitors, live music and a beer garden with more than 60 craft brews from Alabama breweries and beyond. More details are available at mossrockfestival.com.

•Salute to Veterans Ball

November 7 // The Finley Center

This evening formal benefit dinner will feature a speaker of national prominence, Major Ed Paludo, VP of Folds of Honor introduced by Mayor Brocato of Hoover. It also allows corporations to sponsor tables for 10 attendees at several levels of donation. The ball drew 350 attendees last year. V4V’s sponsor, Hendricks Chevrolet in Hoover, will position several new Corvettes for display. For more information, visit Vettes4vets.org.

•Shelby County Christian Women’s Connection Guest Day

November 14 // Riverchase Country Club

Everyone is invited to celebrate the season at “A Taste of the Holidays” event hosted by the Shelby County Christian Women’s Connection at 11 a.m. This special Guest Day will feature chef demonstrations of holiday dishes, inspiration from speaker Deedy Tripp from Georgia and holiday decorations available for purchase. •Starry Night Market

November 15 // The Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles

From 5:30-8:30 p.m., guests can enjoy shopping with local talent just in time for Christmas. The Right Reverend Kee Sloan, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama and author of two books, Jabbok and Beulah, will be at the market and available to autograph and discuss his books. The artists and artisans will display an array of artwork including candles, fused glass, paintings, pottery and jewelry. All work is handmade by artists. Artists and authors will display their work in the nave. Food and wine will be served in the narthex.

•Patriots Benefit Dinner 

November 17 // Riverchase Country Club

The Patriots Benefit Dinner will precede the Nov. 18 Patriots Golf Tournament. Astronaut Dr. Larry DeLuca, science director of the International Space Station on Mission STS-50 will be the featured speaker for this informal dinner (non-golfers welcome). Tickets are limited. The Patriots Golf Tournament is scheduled for early Monday morning. Foursomes make donations in order to play. Vettes 4 Vets adds a deserving veteran to play with each foursome. For more information, visit Vettes4vets.org.

•2019 Market Noel Shopping Event

November 20-23 // The Finley Center

The Junior League of Birmingham’s 2019 Market Noel will once again give guests a chance to purchase holiday gifts and other items from more than 100 merchants, while also helping the Junior League’s charitable projects. This year’s main event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. General admission tickets are $15 per person, with a discount for groups of 10 or more with tickets priced at $12 each. A three-day pass costs $35, and people age 65 and older can get in for $10 on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There also is a Preview Noel event on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 7-10 p.m. that includes live music from the band Nationwide Coverage, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a German beer garden and more. Admission for the preview event is $55 and includes a general admission ticket. The first 250 shoppers at Preview Noel will receive swag bags. Go to jlbonline.com for more details.
