Brock’s Gap Brewing Company

The Alabama SWAT Foundation’s annual races will start and end at Brock’s Gap Brewing Company with race routes wrapping around Black Creek Mountain Bike Park. While everyone is invited to participate, runners must be at least 10 years old or older to compete and be physically prepared for this rather demanding trek. All runners must have a headlamp/flashlight on their person during the races. All rucks will be weighed post-race, and failure to meet the 35 or 40-pound requirements will disquality runners from award eligibility. Benefiting the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation, the annual Taste of Teal Gala will honor four new honorees who have gone above and beyond to bring hope and inspire strength in GYN-cancer patients and survivors. This year’s gala will feature music, dinner, both a live and silent auction, casino games and more. Tickets are $200 per person. Find more details here.

Back and benefiting Jefferson State Community College (JSCC) scholarships, the Judy M. Merritt Memorial 5K and Family Fun Day will feature inflatables, food vendors, a DJ, face painting and more. The race is held in honor of JSCC’s former president Dr. Judy M. Merritt, who served as the college’s president for 35 years and was also the first female president of an Alabama college. Dubbed “a demon of a fiddle player” by The New York Times, Máiréad has become renowned for her talent and was the featured soloist for “Harmonious Live” on Disney+.
