HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?

John and I met in undergrad in 2019 at Samford University. For the next several years, we hung out off and on in group settings. In my junior year of college, I worked at Samford’s gym, and John would come by and talk to me for up to an hour at times. One day for a party, John had been cooking for more than 50 people and made a separate salad with chicken for me, knowing about my allergies. John saw how excited my friends and I were and realized there might be a chance he’d be able to ask me on a date. He later texted me, asking to get dinner. I was in India at the time, so while I said yes, we had to wait a month before going on our first date.

THE PROPOSAL

In fall 2023, I knew a proposal was coming, but I did not know when. To throw off suspicion, John scheduled a nice dinner for every Saturday night that month. I noticed we had taken a detour to this particular dinner, and he parked our car at our favorite lookout spot over Birmingham, where 10 months earlier we had officially started our relationship. As we walked up to the lookout, John expressed his affection and admiration for me. At the spot we regularly sat for hours enjoying each other’s company and the view, John got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

PREPARING FOR MARRIAGE

We received marriage counseling from our pastor and his wife in the months leading up to our wedding day. We were lovingly challenged and encouraged through our counseling sessions as we grew in our relationship.

WEDDING MOMENTS

There were many details that made our wedding day so special. My favorite was the eclectic teacups I collected with my mom.
