HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We grew up in the same small hometown, Arab. We always knew of each other, but we didn’t run in the same circles. One day, I randomly got a text that said, “Hey, Aly, this is Cody Minter! How are you?” After that, we became good friends and hung out several times during my senior year.
THE PROPOSAL
On Sept. 9, 2023, Cody told me we were going to dinner at The Club for his dad’s birthday. Once we arrived, he told me his parents were running late. After a drink at the bar, he asked me if I wanted to go outside to look at the view of the city. Once we went outside, we chatted for a minute, and he then turned and looked at me, grabbed my hands and said, “I’m sure you have probably figured this out by now, but we aren’t meeting my parents for dinner.” He then went into the sweetest speech about how we had found our way back to each other and how he never wanted to be without me now. He asked me to marry him with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen, which made our proposal even more special because it was custom made to fit a family diamond that was passed down to me.
PREPARING FOR MARRIAGE
We attended the “Together for Life” class at our church, Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. We enjoyed getting to know so many other couples who were walking through the same season of life as us. It truly helped us talk through many important conversations, and we continue to use what we learned in the class as we navigate the early stages of our marriage.
WEDDING MOMENTS
Seeing the joy on Cody’s face when he first saw me in my dress is definitely my favorite memory. Eric and Jamie captured this moment so beautifully, and I am so thankful I am able to look back on it now.
